I generally agree with your point about darth, i didn't like it because it simply made the AI 'harder'- more aggressive to the point of stupidity in some cases. If you haven't played NTW3, give that a shot without a doubt- its the best one out there. Very historical, and beautiful looking as well!

As for empire, I have always found the mods out there were pretty rough-and-ready, sort of great intentions but not fully implemented to the playability stage. That is, until i came back from uni this xmas break and was advised to try out 'empire total realism' by someone in the etw forum.it has really delivered. It doesnt add new and varied units (which is a mild shame) but it completely overhauls the entire structure of the unit roster- such as line inf becoming very expensive due to prolonged training, artillery having up to 4-6 turn train times and great upkeep costs. This means small nations can't field large armies, thus their offensive capabilites in grand campaign are all but demolished. In my current playthrough, i am finding this a pleasantly historical state of affairs.

In battles, additionally, the unit xp system has been reworked to give much much higher buffs with higher chevrons, the units stand much closer together and fire much faster (at historically correct speeds) while having poor accuracy at long range. Empire Total Realism sounds good. I loved empire when i first got it.

The scale and scope of the map and just the game in general was just bliss. Minimal units made the game a little annoying but i soon got over it. I returned too it briefly after i played Napoleon and was like.

Hmm not the same. Battles feel bland and AI in empire is dumb as hell too!

I'm glad they fire faster! That really bugged me that they fire really slow. Trained professionals could fire a maximum of 3 a minute! Maybe even 4 i remember seeing a video of some Brit fire extremely fast.

Think we missed one? Give us a Modmail and suggest new Subreddits to add to the lists! I used the main EB installer, whatever the latest version is into my BI folder, then I copied and pasted the whole thing into my Alexander folder.

Then using Steam I had to add the appropriate stuff in launch options (-mod:eb -showerr) I had a problem where it wasn't reading a file, so I had to go in and manually drag 'chatfilter.san' from alexander data folder to EB data. Other than that, it worked fine.

A quick google shows some guy did a purpose built port for Alexander, but I was apparently too lazy to find that or try it, so I can't speak to how well it works.
